One of the best things about having @leahemersonphoto as my intern is that she asks me lots of questions that make me reflect on my business on the spot. A few weeks ago, she asked me what my favorite stage of the design process was, and I surprised myself with my answer: hands-down, my favorite moment is when my clients send me their wedding photos, sometimes months after the wedding itself. Looking through the images their photographer has lovingly taken of their wedding day, I get to see the details and the love and joy that has inspired our design process for sometimes over a year! The color palette, previously a digitized watercolor palette I've put together based on our phone conversations, suddenly comes to life in the flowers and the napkins and the bridesmaid dresses. Sometimes I even catch images of guests looking with delight through the programs I designed with such thought and care. The venue and the setting, which so often forms the main inspiration for my designs, is the backdrop for my beloved clients, laughing or holding hands or lovingly staring into each others' eyes with THAT LOOK. This photo from Meredith and Matt's early summer wedding on the Eastern shore of Virginia is one of a little gallery by @cramerphoto that Meredith sent me this week, and I've been delighting in the images from their shore-inspired fete. The second best thing about having an intern is that she's putting together blog posts of all our past clients' weddings and stationery to tell some of the stories that have inspired my work over the last two years. Meredith and Matt's will be among over 20 weddings we'll share in the coming months, so stay tuned!
Crushing on the pictures by @belathee from Janet and Grant's Vermont winter wedding in Stowe with @storiedevents...These escort cards were foil-stamped in alternating gold & silver to match their corresponding table numbers. The gold lines were a nod to the foil-stamped topographical map that donned the back of their invitation suite. The intern is culling images today from past weddings so we can get caught up on almost 2 years of blog posts (😳) and we're swooning over this one real hard!
The stationery for Janet + Grant's wedding at @stowemtnlodge with @storiedevents was an amazing creative challenge -- we mixed gray letterpress with alternating gold and silver foil, used vintage stamps with woodland animals, double-thick cotton paper, hand woven @silkandwillow twine, and used whimsical calligraphy and hand-drawn details throughout. Every piece was unique and cohesive all at the same time. I love this photo of one of their table numbers, laying over an antler with local wintry florals. @ratcatwiltshire, working with you was a dream! 📷 by the incredible @belathee
I collaborated with @designsponge today to create three downloadable backgrounds from @dearwomenproject featuring inspiring quotes from strong famous women of action 💪🏻- I was really thrilled to be featured on the blog because Grace has been such an inspiring advocate for women's rights and celebrating female business owners.
