Chessa + Jordan
A boho-chic California wedding set in a redwood grove with watercolor botanicals and organic details
Chessa + Jordan were married on June 10th at the Santa Lucia Preserve in Carmel, California.
This Californian couple was blessed with a dream team of wedding professionals. Alongside powerhouse wedding planner Allison Smith of Allison Weddings, Christine of Barefoot Floral orchestrated the most stunning floral + styling, and Carlie Statsky perfectly crafted the couple's love story through her poetic photography. Designing wedding stationery for such a heartfelt couple was a dream come true.
This excerpt from the bride continues to inspire us: "Redwoods care for one another, therefore they endure." While working with Chessa + Jordan, we were constantly in awe of the appreciation they show for all who support and love them along their journey. For their full wedding story, check out this wedding’s features in BRIDES, Today’s Bride SF, and Green Wedding Shoes.

THE SAVE THE DATES
Chessa and Jordan’s save the date featured a watercolor illustration of the rolling hills and iconic oak tree native to the Santa Lucia Preserve.
To tie in some of the rosy and gold hues of the natural landscape and Chessa and Jordan’s color palette, we decided to use a sunset-streaked sky to cast a variety of shades of light on the mountains. This landscape-focused save the date was the perfect preview for their guests of the beautiful natural setting where the wedding would be held.
THE INVITATION ARTWORK

Chessa and Jordan’s invitation suite featured watercolor sprigs of greenery with hues of pink and yellow to tie the colors to the desert mountain landscape of Carmel.
THE PAPER AND THE MAP
We paired sage green envelopes with deckled-edge cotton card stock to give the cards an organic, natural texture and shape. Cards were printed double-sided, with each piece of the invitation suite fitting together to form a custom topographical map of the area as a nod to their love of exploring the outdoors and hiking.

Chessa + Jordan’s envelopes featured a custom-mixed green ink calligraphy, paired with vintage stamps in hues of green and yellow that emphasized the natural setting.
THE TAGS
Wooden tags, burned with a line-drawn logo and threaded with white silk ribbon, held together the invitation suite as a nod to the redwood trees.
THE FLORAL INSPIRATION
The ferns and other wild, bohemian floral varieties that were used in the centerpieces and bridesmaid bouquets served as an inspiration for the invitation suite design, with watercolor fern sprigs incorporated into the borders and details throughout.
THE ESCORT CARDS
Escort cards were printed with a dip-dye design, threaded with different types of greenery, and hung on a wooden board. The calligraphy names and table assignments were written in a custom-mixed green ink.
THE MENUS
We incorporated the watercolor greenery from the invitation suite into the wedding day stationery to create a cohesive aesthetic thread. I hand-wrote guest names in green calligraphy on the top of the menus in lieu of separate place cards for a personal touch.
DIP DYE TABLE NUMBERS
Table numbers were simple green calligraphy numbers printed on a dip-dye card, so as not to take away from the beautiful table settings.
